Fluid Mechanics – Experimental

This research area focuses on applied research of single-phase, turbulent, and non-stationary flow. Studies are performed on a generic model, on a turbine model, and on a full-scale turbine with advanced measurement techniques and numerical computation. We perform detailed measurements on specific phenomena and different types of simulation. Simulation is sometimes also used to assist in the design and evaluation of experimental measurements. In Älvkarleby models of scaled-down hydropower are tested and in Porjus full-scale turbines are used to simulate and investigate various issues. Michel Cervantes is a senior researcher in experimental fluid mechanics in the SVC and a professor at Luleå University of Technology in fluid mechanics.
