Rotor Dynamics

The aim of the research is to strenghten our understanding of the dynamics of generator rotors. Rotor dynamics refers to the rotating turbine-shaft-generator system and aims to reduce vibrations and avoid breakdowns. Through better modelling, measurement, and simulation methods, the reliability and availability of the rotating system can be increased and, in the long term, the service life can be predicted. Jan-Olov Aidanpää is a senior researcher in rotor dynamics in the SVC and professor and chair of computer-aided machine design at the Department of Engineering Sciences and Mathematics at Luleå University of Technology.
