Generator-grid oscillations and grid codes
Hydropower accounts for a significant portion of electricity production, and it is often thought that releasing water generates electrical energy. This is essentially correct, but on a detailed level, it is actually an interaction between the electrical generator and the power system it is connected to.

Small oscillations in the turbine can be amplified in the generator, causing the output power to fluctuate significantly. To avoid this phenomenon, models that accurately describe reality are needed. These models can then be used to ask questions about how to reduce the oscillations so that our power system becomes even more reliable and electricity producers can avoid issues in their power stations.
