In this research area, we focus on tribology, i.e. the study of friction, wear, and lubrication. The research deals with how the choice of lubricant and bearing material affects performance and wear as well as new methods to predict service life related to wear of different components. The research will also evaluate whether a new environmentally friendly lubricant can be used in hydropower. The first tests have shown performance advantages of the new environmentally friendly lubricant.
